Jota is a proven Celtic star and has the statistics from his first stint to prove it.
The winger re-joined from Rennes this window and he is in line to make his first appearance this weekend vs Motherwell at Fir Park.
It is a strong statement of intent from manager Brendan Rodgers in the January window to bring the Portuguese back and the Irishman admitted he had wanted to work with Jota before he left in 2023 for Al-Ittihad in a £25million deal.
Everything worked out in the end, but Jota‘s return coincided with a Kyogo transfer exit which shakes things up a bit for the winger.
He chipped in with 28 assists during his previous Parkhead stint and we are certain plenty of them were for Kyogo up top.
Now it is Adam Idah he will be aiming for and that may have come at the perfect time, too.
Jota’s Celtic stats before exit should excite Idah
Idah banged in a brilliant double in Champions League action vs Aston Villa this week and that was without the help of our superstar from Portugal.
But the big striker is hoping his new teammate can find him with plenty of crosses and assists as he hopes to link up well with the wideman.
Idah’s contributions have been hailed by Rodgers even outside of putting the ball in the net but he’s hopeful of doing that a lot more now that Jota is here.
And he was full of praise for the attacker he believes is top class having watched him only in training up close so far.
What Idah said was ‘unbelievable’ about Celtic’s Jota
Asked how excited he is to be working with Jota, Idah said: “He’s a fantastic player.
“When he was here before, he was unbelievable.
“I’ve seen him in training in the last couple of days and he’s been fantastic.
“It’ll be great to play with him and hopefully, he has a couple of assists in the bag for me.”
