The former Hearts manager watched the Hoops batter Dundee in midweek with four different goal scorers despite a lack of striker signed in the January transfer window.
Fans were irked by the club’s business – or lack thereof – with only Jeffrey Schlupp arriving on deadline day to compete at left-back.
It was another player who arrived in the window, though, who seems to have spooked Naismith as well as the rest of the division.
Jota made his re-debut and cried happy tears following his goal against Motherwell.
The wide man started the next game vs Dundee and put on a show with a magnificent assist for Daizen Maeda‘s first goal of the evening.
That was the moment Naismith pointed to as he made it clear the 25-year-old winger is back to his best.
That is, despite a lack of game time at either Al-Ittihad or Rennes since he left Parkhead initially.
Jota will be a problem for any club and Celts will hope he is for Bayern Munich in the Champions League when the two clubs go head to head on Wednesday evening.
And this, says Naismith, is only the former Benfica kid without full match fitness.
Speaking on the Warm Up show, Naismith puffed out his cheeks nervously when discussing the talent Brendan Rodgers has at their disposal when it comes to Jota.
And he warned the rest of the league that when he is up to full speed, he will be difficult to stop.
Naismith seems nervous about Jota at Celtic
“Jota, people saying he’s not fit…” Naismith began nervously.
“He looked brilliant.
“I think as players, when it’s enjoyable it’s easy, no matter how much match fitness you’ve got.
“I think that showed. The first time he got the ball it’s a stepover and he flicks it down the line for Greg Taylor.
“It must have been an enjoyable night for him.”
