The San Diego Padres failed to reach the World Series in 2024. With many key players set to hit free agency, their roster could look very different in 2025.
One key free agent for the Padres will be in danger of losing is Tanner Scott. They acquired Scott from the Marlins midseason in 2024. While listing free agent pitchers the Boston Red Sox should target, FanSided’s Miles Houston named Scott.
“Scott would be a great acquisition for the Red Sox. In addition to his postseason experience, he could fill Boston’s closer role, as he had 22 saves in 2024,” wrote Houston.
Spotrac projects Scott to sign a four-year, $65 million deal in free agency. He was an All-Star in 2024 for the first time in his career. Losing him could be a big blow for the Padres bullpen.
