BREAKING: Colts Land Top TE, Elite EDGE In Latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft
The Indianapolis Colts find themselves in a difficult situation despite making strong moves in free agency by signing two top-tier defensive backs. While these acquisitions are valuable, they don’t completely offset the uncertainty surrounding the team. The biggest question mark remains at quarterback, as Anthony Richardson’s future has been uncertain since his midseason benching—a predicament no franchise wants to face.
Compounding their challenges, the Colts have only seven picks in the upcoming draft, meaning they must execute nearly flawlessly if they plan to improve through the draft. However, if they follow the strategy outlined in a recent mock draft, they could be well-positioned to make the most of their selections.
Luke Easterling of Athlon Sports recently released his four-round mock draft, projecting the Indianapolis Colts to make significant moves in the first two rounds. In the opening round, he predicts the Colts will select Penn State tight end Tyler Warren—a pick that comes as no surprise, given that the First Team All-American has frequently been linked to Indianapolis in mock drafts.
The Colts have been searching for a long-term answer at tight end since Dallas Clark’s departure in 2011. While Jack Doyle had a solid two-year stretch, consistent production from the position has been lacking for nearly 15 years. Warren, however, has proven to be a reliable target regardless of quarterback play, amassing over 1,000 receiving yards and eight touchdowns last season despite inconsistent performances from Drew Allar.
Standing at 6’6″ and 250 pounds, the John Mackey Award winner might be the most versatile prospect in this draft class—an impressive feat in a year featuring dynamic talents like Travis Hunter. More than just a tight end, Warren lined up at X receiver, slot receiver, running back, and even quarterback. In today’s NFL, versatility is a major asset, making him an ideal fit for a Colts team in desperate need of a game-changing prospect.
JT Tuimoloau
In Easterling’s mock draft, the Indianapolis Colts are projected to select standout edge rusher JT Tuimoloau. With a dominant force like DeForest Buckner anchoring the interior defensive line, one would expect the team’s edge rushers to capitalize on favorable matchups. However, Kwity Paye was the only Colts edge rusher to surpass five sacks last season, finishing with just six-and-a-half.
Tuimoloau showcased his pass-rushing ability by recording six sacks in 12 regular-season games, but he truly shined in the College Football Playoffs, racking up six-and-a-half sacks over four games. The Ohio State edge rusher could thrive alongside Buckner, potentially drawing enough attention to open up opportunities for the opposite side of the defensive line. If the actual draft plays out similarly to this mock, the Colts would make a significant stride toward becoming a legitimate playoff contender.
