Congratulations!!:Oklahoma wins record fourth straight NCAA softball title, beating Texas 8-4 for 2-….
In June 2024, the Oklahoma Sooners clinched their fourth consecutive NCAA softball championship by defeating the Texas Longhorns 8-4, completing a two-game sweep in the Women’s College World Series finals. This victory marked Oklahoma’s eighth national title under coach Patty Gasso, tying them with Arizona for the second-most championships in NCAA softball history, behind UCLA’s twelve.
The Sooners’ success was highlighted by a pivotal, bases-clearing double from Cydney Sanders, which broke a 2-2 tie and propelled Oklahoma to victory. Pitcher Kelly Maxwell delivered a standout performance throughout the series, earning her the title of Women’s College World Series Most Outstanding Player.
As of March 2025, the Texas Longhorns have been ranked No. 1 in the SEC and the nation in preseason polls. However, head coach Mike White acknowledges that the reigning champions, the Oklahoma Sooners, still hold the top spot until dethroned.
