The Kentucky Wildcats Women’s Basketball team has added another key player through the transfer portal, as Liberty Flames guard Asia Boone has committed to join the Wildcats for the upcoming seasons. The 5-foot-8 sharpshooter from California comes with two years of eligibility remaining.
Boone made her announcement on Instagram, confirming her decision to transfer to Kentucky. Over the past two seasons at Liberty, she has proven herself as a consistent scorer and reliable performer. During her freshman year in 2023-24, Boone averaged 10.1 points per game, shooting 36.3% from the field and 36.8% from beyond the arc. She also contributed 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game, showcasing her all-around skills.
In her sophomore campaign, Boone improved on her numbers, averaging 10.2 points per game on 40.3% shooting from the field, with 36.9% shooting from three-point range. She continued to provide solid playmaking, adding 1.4 assists per game.
Boone’s most recent appearance came in the NCAA Tournament, where she faced Kentucky in the Round of 64. Despite her strong performance throughout the season, she played just five minutes in that matchup before exiting with a foot injury.
Her addition to Kentucky bolsters the backcourt, joining fellow transfer Josie Gilvin from Western Kentucky. Boone’s scoring ability and experience at the Division I level should provide valuable depth to Coach Kenny Brooks’ squad as they continue to build a competitive roster for the 2025-26 season.
With Boone now on board, the Wildcats have added another weapon to their roster, and fans can expect to see her contribute immediately as she brings her sharpshooting and leadership to Lexington.
