The Georgia Bulldogs might find out whether they will land the top recruit in the 2026 class sooner than initially expected.
Five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell shared on social media that he “might be closer to the end” of his recruitment “that I thought I was.”
Cantwell left his followers in suspend, concluding his tweet with an ellipsis.
The offensive tackle has official visits scheduled for five schools, including Georgia. Cantwell will be in Athens, Ga., for the weekend of June 6.
Cantwell also has official visits scheduled for the Miami Hurricanes, Missouri Tigers, Michigan Wolverines and Oregon Ducks.
Cantwell was expected to make his final decision after his final official visit, but 247 Sports’ Mike Roach reported his timeline could be changing.
“A source close to the situation told 247Sports that the process is wearing thin, and he might not want to take all five of his official visits,” Roach wrote. “Cantwell has seen all of his finalists on multiple visits, and we’re told he has all of the information he needs to make a decision.
“It’s not uncommon for recruits to get visit fatigue and end their process earlier than expected.”
Roach described Georgia as “a longtime favorite” for Cantwell, but Roach also called Miami “a program to watch.”
Cantwell is largely considered the consensus top recruit in the 2026 class. According to the 247 Sports composite rankings, Cantwell is the No. 1 recruit, top offensive tackle prospect and best prospect from Missouri in the upcoming class.
