It has been an up-and-down beginning of the season for the Boston Red Sox.
The Red Sox began with a 1-4 start due to poor batting, mostly from their stars. They went on to win five consecutive games as their offense seemed to click. Then, Boston went on to win only two of the last seven games, and they are now 8-9 going into the new week.
Boston’s offense looks like it’s cooling off again. They’re back under .500, but are not the only ones struggling.
Thirteen teams across the league are currently below a .600 winning percentage, and as the new week begins, not a single team in the AL has hit the 10-win mark.
Only two teams, the Detroit Tigers and the Los Angeles Angels, are at .600%. If the Red Sox win one more game, they will tie for the best record in the AL.
Meanwhile, the NL has teams present this early in the season. Six teams are at .600 or more, and five (New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, and San Francisco Giants) have 10 or more wins after this weekend’s action.
It is no secret that the NL has more competitive teams for a World Series title.
Boston gets ready for its next AL East matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays, who come into the week with the same 7-8 record. The Red Sox will be looking to find their rhythm at the plate again after scoring just 14 runs over their last seven games.
