The party didn’t stop on the pitch for the Queen’s Park players after they sent Rangers crashing out of the Scottish Cup – with chaotic scenes now emerging from their post-match dressing room party.
The Scottish Championship side pulled off a historic upset after substitute Sebastian Drozd netted a second half winner at Ibrox. James Tavernier was given the chance to level from the penalty spot in injury time – but Callum Ferrie saved the Rangers captain’s effort from 12 yards to send the Glasgow heavyweights crashing out of the cup – and Callum Davidson‘s men into the next round.
And with that it was party time for the Spiders with Louis Longridge sharing a behind the scene clip of the celebrations to his X account with the caption: “What a day!!!! Thanks for coming… Beautiful Sunday.” The clip showed the players signing Flip and Fill hit ‘Discoland’ as they jumped around the Ibrox dressing room.
Daniel Boone track ‘Beautiful Sunday’ is an anthem that has been adopted by Celtic fans in recent years – often marking various marquee triumphs that take place on that day with the tune playing over the tannoy. But Queen’s Park borrowed it for the day as part of the wild scenes.
The tune blaring out is Discoland is also popular song for Celtic supporters. It seems the visitors were more happy to rub salt in the wounds of Philippe Clement and Co.
