About the Role
As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people in residential care settings. The aim of the service is to provide a home-from-home environment where children feel safe, valued, and empowered to develop important life skills.
You will help young people achieve their personal goals, participate in enjoyable activities, and prepare for independent living and future success.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Supporting children and young people in achieving personal goals and aspirations.
- Assisting with daily routines and developing essential life skills.
- Creating a positive, fun, and supportive environment.
- Organising and participating in recreational and educational activities.
- Supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
- Maintaining accurate records and reports for each young person.
- Ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Helping prepare meals and maintaining a clean and safe living environment.
- Administering first aid where necessary.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and attending team meetings.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people with complex needs.
- Understanding of person-centred planning and support.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to GCSE level.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and remain calm in challenging situations.
- A caring, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting young people.
Driving Requirements
Candidates must:
- Hold a valid UK driving licence.
- Have access to their own vehicle.
- Possess business insurance suitable for the role.

Desirable Qualifications
- First Aid Certificate.
- Training in Food Hygiene, trauma-informed practice, or related courses.
