Real Madrid are facing an intriguing situation with regard to the left-back position heading into the summer.
The future of Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia remain uncertain while top target Alphonso Davies is gunning for a lucrative contract.
In the midst of such uncertainty, Miguel Gutierrez has come into focus, with Real Madrid reportedly keen on bringing him in the summer.
Gutierrez’s success this season
A product of La Fabrica, Gutierrez left Real Madrid for Girona in the summer of 2022, for a fee of just €4 million.
Thanks to the small valuation, Los Blancos were able to secure a 50% sell-on fee in his Girona contract, along with an affordable buyback option of €8 million.
The youngster has done an extraordinary job for Michel’s team this season, impressing the onlookers with his attacking acumen and ability to operate in an inverted role.
Gutierrez has featured in 27 league matches this season, racking up a goal and four assists. His contributions have helped Girona pose a sensational fight for the league title.

What Gutierrez’s future means for Real Madrid
Real Madrid are involved in a tangent, as far as Miguel Gutierrez’s future is concerned.
As mentioned earlier, the club are reportedly keen on bringing him back to Bernabeu this summer by triggering the €8 million repurchase option.
However, MARCA has recently clarified that if Gutierrez does come back this summer, it will be as part of a guaranteed agreement of him becoming a first-team member.
That means Real Madrid will not sign him back just for the sake of making a quick profit. This makes sense considering the fact that Los Blancos already hold 50% of the player’s sell-on fee.
As such, the Spanish giants will receive half the amount of Girona’s sale revenue if he is sold to a different club by the Catalans.
To that end, it is important to note that Bayern are among the clubs eyeing a move for Gutierrez this summer as a replacement for none other than Real Madrid target Davies
