‘It’s too late’ – Lord of the Rings star thinks Real Madrid don’t ‘need’ Kylian Mbappé and Gives Reasons
The Lord of the Rings star Viggo Mortensen does not believe Kylian Mbappé (25) should go to Real Madrid this summer.
The actor, a San Lorenzo and Real Madrid fan, has weighed in on what will likely be the story of the summer when Mbappé finally leaves Paris Saint-Germain to join the Spanish giants.
Although nothing has been officially confirmed it is the worst-kept secret in sports that Mbappé will leave PSG at the end of his contract in June, where he will look to join the club that has courted him since 2017.
Speaking to La Provence, Mortensen was pointed when asked his opinion on the transfer. “Real Madrid does not need Kylian Mbappé. It’s just for the ego of president Florentino Perez.” He continued, “Me, I think that with Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo, we have what we need, it’s not necessary. He should have come to Real two years ago. It’s too late.”
Despite Mbappé’s status as one of the best players in the world, the frequent David Cronenberg collaborator is of a similar opinion to Barcelona president Joan Laporta, that his move will only upset a balanced squad that has been built in Madrid.
