The Green Bay Packers will enter the 2025 season looking to build off what they started the previous two seasons. While 2024 didn’t exactly end the way the team wanted to, they improved their win total, secured another playoff berth, and showed the NFL that the youngest team in the league is no slouch.
However, one move that could take them to the next level continues to surface for this team.
Christian Watson could miss a significant portion of the 2025 season, and the Packers need to continue adding to the talent around Jordan Love in order to continue elevating the young quarterback’s development as well as to take the next step towards competing for championships.
TWSN’s Alex Frank suggests Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin could be a perfect fit for the Packers.
“Godwin has been one of the NFL’s best slot receivers since coming into the NFL in 2017,” Frank writes for TWSN. “He may be coming back from a dislocated ankle sustained in Week 7 of the 2024 Season, but he had three straight seasons with 1,000 yards prior to 2024.
Even more so, Godwin was on his way to having the best season of his career when he got injured. He was on pace to have 121 receptions, 1,399 yards and 12 touchdowns. Jordan Love has a bevy of really good receivers, but he could use a true No. 1 wide receiver to take the Packers offense to the next level. Chris Godwin could be that receiver.”
Godwin addition to this offense would be massive.
Because of the Packers’ early playoff exit in 2024, this team and fanbase have to accept that the offense needs an adequate wide receiver at No. 1.
Jordan Love is surrounded by a talented receiver room, but the group isn’t elite. Dontayvion Wicks, Romano Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Christian Watson are all good players, but not one has yet to take command of that role. Godwin has been performing like a WR1 throughout his career:
