Role Responsibilities
As a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner, you will support clients throughout their entire care journey.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting consultations and assessments.
- Providing information regarding pregnancy options.
- Supporting clients through termination procedures.
- Providing STI testing, treatment, and contraception advice.
- Administering medications for medical abortion procedures.
- Caring for clients undergoing surgical procedures.
- Supporting theatre and recovery services.
- Conducting post-treatment assessments and follow-up care.
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
- Referring patients to NHS services when necessary.
- Ensuring all care is delivered in accordance with professional guidelines and legislation.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 qualification or Registered Midwife status.
- Active NMC registration and valid PIN.
- Minimum of 12 months clinical practice experience.
- Experience in general nursing or midwifery.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and Fraser/Gillick competencies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Teams.
- Ability to travel across all Birmingham Cluster locations.
- Support for a woman’s right to choose, in line with BPAS values.
Desirable Skills and Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- Gynaecological nursing experience.
- Sexual health or contraception experience.
- Venepuncture and cannulation skills.
- Ultrasound scanning experience.
- Contraception qualifications or training.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 08:30 AM – 04:30 PM
- 37.5 hours per week
- Saturday shifts, when required, are paid at time and a half.
