About the Role
This Staff Nurse role is based within the Core Clinical Research Facility (CRF) nursing team. The position offers the opportunity to work in both research and cancer nursing, supporting patients receiving new and innovative treatments within the context of clinical trials.
Previous experience in research or oncology nursing is helpful but not essential, as full training will be provided through a competency-based framework.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties in this role will include:
- Providing safe and compassionate care to research patients.
- Supporting patients receiving treatment within clinical trial protocols.
- Working in line with trial procedures, hospital policies, the NMC Code, GCP guidelines, and best practice standards.
- Administering infusion and bolus chemotherapy through central lines and peripheral cannulae.
- Safely handling licensed and unlicensed medicines within clinical trial settings.
- Maintaining privacy, dignity, and high standards of nursing care.
- Updating clinical records accurately and handing over information clearly.
- Liaising with medical staff, research nurses, referring hospitals, GPs, and community teams.
- Supporting junior staff, student nurses, and health care assistants.
- Assisting with patient meals, refreshments, housekeeping, and safety checks.
- Reporting incidents, faults, and risks appropriately.
- Contributing to team improvements, service development, and training.

Essential Requirements
- First level registration as an RGN/RN Adult.
- Degree in Healthcare Studies or equivalent.
- Strong communication skills.

- Post-registration oncology qualifications.
- IV access and cannulation skills.
- Experience administering IV chemotherapy.
- Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development.
